| Except
for the radiator a Jaguar V 12 and a Daimler "double six" are identical.
In some countries, such as Germany, the Daimler version was not sold, so
quite a few owners, who thought that the Daimler radiator was nicer looking
than the Jaguar radiator, fitted the Daimler radiator. In the U.S., Jaguar
cars with the Daimler radiator were sold, but called "Jaguar van den Plas".
The Jaguar/Daimler Series 3 was produced in two versions. One was fitted with the 4,2 litres straight 6 cylinder engine. The other had the 5,3 litres V12 engine. In 1986 the 4,2 litre Series 3 was discontinued and the model was replaced by the XJ 40 which was fitted with the new 6 cylinder 4,0 litre and 3,2 litre engines (with catalytic converters). The Series 3 V12 was not discontinued: There was not enough room for the V12 engine in the new model so the V12 Series 3 was still produced and it was the top model for another 6 years when a redesigned V12 engine (with a catalytic converter) was fitted to the XJ 40 chassis. The V12 used by V.I.P. Limousine Service is one of the last Series 3, V12's built. It was, until 1996, the property of the attorney of "Jaguar Deutschland" ("Jaguar, Germany") Specifications: Weight: 4256 lb. Length: 195,0 in. With: 73,5 in. Height: 54,0 in. Engine:
